NEW FOR 2009!
========================================================
We are working with many in the sport, to have the best
solutions to issues involving a list of performances.
The standard for our sport, the method used for evaluating
performances is what we are using. Recently, it was brought
to our attention that reported hand times for ANY distance
should not be reported to the hundredth. This is correct
as we have made the appropriate adjustments. The accepted
rule for reporting hand times is to always report to the next
higher tenth.

For example: a time of 14.35 should be displayed as 14.40.
TO convert for comparison, you THEN add .24 and make it 14.64.

A 1500 meter time of 5:12.34 should be ranked as 5:12.40

In any meet, that was not fully explained what is FAT and
what is hand timed, we will report all marks as hand timed.
That means first take them up to the next tenth, and then
add on adjustments for shorter races as described below.

As we do every year, any hand timed mark that can not be backed
up with a very close equiv. F.A.T. mark will be deleted.

========================================================

It is understood that there is a difference between Fully Automatic Timing (FAT) and hand timed results.
Athletes competing in meets without FAT, need to have their times adjusted for distances of 400 meters
and under. The alternative of excluding kids without FAT does not seem fair, but without adjustments
it would leave hand-timed performances with an unfair advantage.

Distances of 200 meters and shorter, all hand timed performances are adjusted by 0.24 seconds.
Distances over 200 meters up to and including 400 meters, hand timed performances are adjusted by 0.14 seconds.

Meets that our information indicates were run without Fully Automatic Timing, will have results adjusted
and each performance will have an "c" next to it to indicate "Converted From Hand Timed".

If you feel a mistake has been made in how the meet was timed, let us know and we'll recheck.

When you click through to an athlete for their individual marks for the year, we do NOT adjust those
so that the kids can recognize where they've run when they have lots of performances.
(when they are adjusted, the kids have trouble recognizing their marks)

It is not an error, for us to show the actually reported hand time without adjustment in the backup pages,
but use the adjusted times in the rankings. We are doing this on purpose.

As always, we're doing everything we can to recogize everyone we can in as fair a way as possible.

Suggestions and comments to help us are always welcome.
